If you'd like to reduce the acidity, you can also add about 1/2 tsp baking soda, which will make it foam for a little bit, but helps with the acid. The same goes for chili, and helping to reduce the gas from the beans.

Its a good recipe. But I really must question the 8-9 medium tomatoes at 5 pounds weight. There is no medium sized tomato that weighs that much. You either mean 5 pounds of tomatoes or not. Never use numbers or subjective sizes you are more likely to get people saying it didnt work.

I didn’t see an answer. Did you core the tomatoes? The recipe calls for tomatoes, being cored and quartered
The video and pictures do not show the tomatoes cored

Hi, just seen this recipe, looks great. You said to core tomatoes, but in your video, seeds and cores are still there. Did you mean remove stem. Looking forward to making.

Neither the tomatoes nor peppers made the soup bitter. I've been making this for years this way. Are you sure you added the onion (which sweetens things). Trader Joe's has SUGAR added.

Maybe you didn't care for the garlic or paprika. I don't use either one. I use a dash of cayenne and some dill sometimes.

Also, sometimes canned crushed tomatoes give you a better outcome than fresh tomatoes. Most chefs use canned.
