Not too sweet, not too rich. I used semi sweet chips, whole milk, and one tablespoon sugar. Also sifted the cocoa and sugar (clearly an unnecessary step if you use the maple syrup). Best hot chocolate I have had in years. Great flavor. Good mouthfeel (not watery). Next time I’ll make the leap and try the maple syrup. Thank you for a great recipe.

I crushed my chocolate bars in a chopper and no, the chocolate does not need to be melted, it will melt on its own.

Is the chopped chocolate supposed to be melted before adding it to the milk mixture? Seemed odd to add chocolate chunks to a drink, unless they melt on their own . . .

Needed another dose today as it is bitter cold and snowing. Very delicious and feels virtuous! Today I added natural peanut butter at the end. So good! Subtle flavor. Also use just one tablespoon of maple syrup. It is not overly sweet, just warm and good.
