I just got a tea pot with infuser and had to try this recipe! The tea pot holds 1 liter, so I tried 2T of loose leaf herbal tea. I accidentally let it infuse in the fridge for 14 hours, but it was perfect. :)

This cold brew iced tea method is so simple yet such a game-changer! I love how it removes bitterness and brings out a much smoother, cleaner flavor than hot-brewed tea. Perfect for summer, especially when kept in the fridge for quick refreshing drinks. Thanks for explaining the process so clearly—I’ll definitely be trying this method soon!

Especially great for van (or any) camping and touring. I used to boil water in the AM, brew big batch of tea, add loads of ice, put the rest in the fridge--wastefully warming up fridge, and using up my minimal supply of ice--and then off for the day. Got tired of that and was buying, very uneconomically, brewed tea from the grocery store. Now just fill up quart jars in the PM and ready to go in the AM for new day's adventure. What an easy great solution on all levels. Really appreciate this technique. Thanks.

Cold brew iced tea has become one of my favorite summer beverages, and your step-by-step instructions make the process incredibly easy to follow. I appreciate the tips on steeping times for different tea varieties and the explanation of how cold brewing helps reduce bitterness.

Hon, when they say "loose leaf tea makes the best cold brewed tea", they aren't referring to simply removing the bag from the equation.
Loose leaf tea is entirely different from the tiny lawn clippings you find in a mass produced tea bag. You need LARGE tea leaves that unfurl when hydrated - that's the high quality aspect of loose leaf tea. Not the tiny, dust-like specs of what used to be a tea leaf.

This is so sad.

I make sun tea and only leave it out for 2 hours. Because it heats up gently and doesn't stay out long all the flavors are there minus the bitterness. The refrigerated tea would be great as an overnighter if you don't have time to babysit a carafe of tea...

Kate,
Thank you for what may seem obvious to many folks. I haven’t done cold brew before, but always make my own ice tea. I will be using this method!

It also then prompted me to check out the cold brew coffee, decaf for me. So I’ll be giving that a try too.

Thanks, as usual!
